Hi All,

I am setting up a naturalistic viv for some Bavayia. I have collected a couple nice branches, do you think they are safe to use?i am certain they wont have any chemical contamination e.t.c. on them but could there be anything natural on there which could be harmfull to geckos?

I would be careful what you pick up from out doors there might be anything from mights to spores that will not mix with a NON Native species. I have not picked up anything from outdoors but i have heard that if you soak wood in a 10% bleach mix for a few hours and backed the wood in the oven at 300 to 350 that will kill about everything to worry about but that is just hear-say.

Hi Rob, I use branches from woods all the time and have never seen any ill effect. I always freeze my branches overnight to kill off anything harmful and only use branches well well away from roads or places where pesticides etc are used.
