I have been using a similar substrate for years with all my cresteds and havent had a problem, unless you just use paper towel there is going to be a minimal risk of it. I wouldnt change what you are using,

Hey!
Thanks for the comments!
Well the petshop that I bought them from has had them on that for ~6-8 months... So I'm not to worried... And most of the time I hand feed them since I want to make sure they both get the same amount of food and that the male don't steel it all or vice-versa...

I've seen some posts in the past on various boards of cresties choking to death on this substrate. Its your geckos so you could keep them how you like but I would recommend cocofibre as its much more forgiving than what you are currently using.

Just because your geckos haven't had a problem yet doesn't mean it isn't going to happen. And yes other substrates have a minimul chance of something happen, but tjhe bark chips have a very high chance of something happening. I don't know why you people are so persistant in using bark chips, just because nothing happend hyet, doesn't mean anything is going to happen. I wish I could find the thread about somebody and there uroplatus who became impacted with a bunch of them. It's just plain stupid tpo use bark chips, there's no reason for it, why would anybody be willing to risk their geckos lives over a stupid substrate, I find it very ignorant that people do this KNOWING the risk factor. Using cocnut fibers or something like that has a possibility of being digested, using bark chips, theres no possibility of digecting a big chunk of bark. It's just stupid and that's all there is to it.

You know what Mr. Smith...
I don't know what I've done to piss you off, however I am not getting any support whatsoever from you... Is it the fact that I'm a noob thats breeding Cresties... Give me a break! Substrates is a controversy everywhere and whell every post ive done youve made a contreversy over! You know what your using coconut fiber, GOOD FOR YOU! I'm not! I'm using Forest earth by Exo Terra! Your going to tell me that in the wild these lizards never encounter bark?! ITS MY PERSONAL DESISION and well thats final! This is the second thread you find something to critisize me about with my cresties and I'm fed up! YOU MUST BE PERFECT AND YOUR GECKOS TOO!!!
Have a nice evening!;-)

No, it has nothing to do with you being a noob to breeding, it had to do with you going out and buying a pair of animals you know nothing about and THEN breeding them with no experience in breeding either, and when I was looking at this thread I had no idea it was yours, I was looking at pictures. Yes substrate is a contriversy everywhere, but bark has compacted and killed a ton of geckos! No, I don't use coconut fiber, I use paper towels because my geckos lives are worth more than some stupid substrate! Yes thes geckos probably do encounter bark in the wild, your going to tell me these geckos don't die by anything other than other animals killing them in the wild?! Yes it is your personal opinion and that is the end of course, they are your animals, buyt it doesn't make it right. No, im not perfect, but it kills me when people like you know what can happen by doing something stupid and you still do nothing about it because "the pet store used it for like 6 months and he's fine", so what! This means nothing caqn happen in the future?! It happends all the time! Why would you take the chance?! What's the point?! It's stupid and ignorant and that's all there is to it!

okay...
Smith: There's people with different opinions on everything. And that's just all there is to it. I don't personally use bark chips, but many people do, and it's been fine. So how about let's stop criticizing everything... and get on with giving good respectful advice. No reason to make people feel like complete idiots when they're here looking for help and advice. You can have valaid points, but best to be polite and mature about it rather than lashing out.

Mouette: Be aware that people on here have a HUGE passion for what they keep and breed, just like i do, and will get very protective... even of animals that aren't theirs :p Be patient with people who give you advice, no matter how they say it. Don't let it bother you too much... just take in the positive point to what they're saying and consider it... which in this case it would just be people worrying about your cresties, kuz it's very hard losing one :( and they're also just trying to save you possible costly vet bills. It is ultimately your choice what to use for substrate ofcourse :p People will just sometimes let you in on experiences/knowledge they've gained about certain things that the pet stores won't tell you. Just so you don't have to go through it yourself.

But anyways, those are very nice cresties. You said that they were Halloween Harley and Chocolate Cream harley? ...I'm not sure if it's just thr lighting without flash but they both look like halloweens to me :O But they'll be some very pretty offspring either way :)

No, that's just it... It's not an OPINION, if it was an opinion I wouldn't make a big deal out of it... It's a fact! It happends alot! If it was my opinion that the gecko was this color and someone else said it was this color, whatever, I don't care, but when I and others KNOW what can happen when using bark and see people who lose their geckos for this reason plenty of times, then it's a whle different story! Now it's just ignorance and stupidity because you know what can happen to your pet and has happend plenty of times and still do it!

Smith:
If you live In the middle of the city and own a dog, you let him out to pee/shit and he croses the road and get hit by a car. I wont come over and give you shit because you let your dog out to pee and you got him killed knowing there was a risk that it would happen! Life is a risk and if you can't face it maybe you should be the one not owning cresteds... Seriously get over the fact that i'm using bark i'm not the first/only nor last thats gonna use it! GET OVER IT!!!
Oh and the fact that you keep telling me wont change a thing!
