Experienced keepers: I have a question for ya

I have gotten all the normal answers to this question, and was looking for some greater insight. So here goes....

My female tokay ate a large piece of bark about a year ago while trying to get a cricket. I couldn't get to her intime and she swallowed it along with the cricket. I thought for sure she was going to become impacted and die. But she did not. She actually passed the piece of bark a week or 2 later. But since then, she has lost her crazy appitite. She eats, and keeps her weight on, but doesnt seem interested in crickets, giant mealworms, or super worms. I offer pinkie mice once or twice a month and she loves those. She also took goliath horned worms down for a bit, and then sorta got sick of those as well. She is just a super picky eater and it's been a worry of mine ever since.

Any suggestions??

As long as she isnt loosing weight and is still eating some what she should be just fine. You said that it has been over a year since she ate the bark? I really wouldnt worry to much if she is still eating and maintaining her weight. If she starts loosing weight or starts looking unhealthy then I would worry. She sounds like she just might be a picky eater. It dosnt really sound like its anything to worry about. Main thing is just make sure she does eat and maintains the weight and looks healthy.

Thx cliff. She does eat. She actually ate 3 giant mealworms last night. She has lost some weight (she used to be a chunker), but has since maintained her weight pretty well. If I notice she has lost a bit, I offer a pinkie. She never was a picky eater until I moved her out of her 30 gallon long tank, into a 55 gallon. I guess I will have to get some roaches and see how that goes.

How long ago did you move her into the 55gal? If it wasnt to long ago she might still be a little freaked out over the move. Whenever I have moved mine into new cages they go on a picky not wanting to eat much spree for about a month or two till they get completely used to their new home. But like Cliff said if she isnt losing weight there isnt much to worry about.

Just wondering if you know the age of the animal?

I dont. She was a "rescue" from petco. At least 4 years old

I was thinking she might be up there in years, and just slowing down, as many mature animals do. If she was an adult W.C. you really have no idea the actual age. I realize Tokays can attain a ripe old age, but thought I'd throw the idea out there.

aquapimp I didnt really think of that but that could be it to. Most tokays are wc so you really dont have any idea what they age is. It could just be getting old?
