hey there!

i just wondered again about this crested gecko diet stuff everyone is talking about... i live in vienna and never have seen something like that.

my cresteds get mashed fruits, such as bananas and mangos and of course crickets sometimes.

i just wanted to ask, what kind of fruits you have experiences with, because i cant feed my cresteds bananas and mangos their whole live long ;-)

so it would be nice if you give me some inspiration or recipes for food

thanks!

mix some plain yogourt in with that, add some pear, and change it up with adding strawberries or blueberries sometimes! ;) mine love it.

and they won't get sick because of the yogourt? sounds interesting... hof often do you feed? and do you freeze it or always make it fresh?

hmm... has anyone experiences with feeding vegetables?

no the yogourt is awesome for them. puts on healthy weight and they love it. and yeah, i blend it up and freeze it in ice cube trays :) They get the mixture every second night, and crickets on alternating nights.

ah, so you feed them every night... but i guess it's also alright to feed them every second night

hm, how many cricktes do you give each gecko? 2? 3?
;-)

I do absolutely feed them every night. Some people do choose not to, but I'd say that in the wild, they don't just refrain from eating on certain nights, unless they're forced into it by some sort of drought. And I don't see a need to withhold food from them. As long as they're gaining healthy weight, and not just getting fat, my cresties get to eat as much as they wish. At the beginning, I'd throw in about 10 crix and see how many would be left in with each crestie in the morning, and take them out. I've found that mine will each eat 5-6 lg crix every second night, and a nice sized dish of fruit mixture other nights :) I, aswell as other people I know have had great success with feeding every night, and not skimping out on portions at all! Our cresties grow big, fast, and are very healthy! :)

ok, i see...

but when you write that yours eat a whole dish of fruit-mix, i wonder, because mine only eat very little... i mean, i have the two females in one tank and the male in another one... but they never ate that much

When i say dish... lol i mean a crestie-sized dish, maybe like 1 full tsp. (shoulda specified)between each tank of 2 females. But it's a good amount to a crestie. Mine absolutely love it.

haha, ok, that was clear to me ;D

and do you have any experiences of feeding avocados or such things?

I havn't yet, basically I've fed them mango, pear, banana, raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, grape... They're cool with pretty much any fruit, no citrus though. :)

and what do you think of feeding baby-food? i have done that for some time, but acutally i think they like the mashed fruits more

anyways, thank you very much for helping me, i'll try out the yogurt as soon as i can buy one.

I wouldnt personally feed mine baby food... there was an issue with a certain brand a little bit ago and I've just stayed away from it... I'd rather give them fresh fruit anyways :)
Good luck though!

I'd skip the avocados. THey have too much fat and cholestoral and they get heart disease! They seem to like the sweeter fruits.
