Humidity

My tank is quite large (6'Lx2'Hx18"W). I was planning on using my fogger in this tank for my cresties, as even though it would keep the tank at 100% for a short period, it wouldn't be constantly running so it would stay a little higher at times and fluctuate. I was planning on misting, but only enough to keep the soil slightly damp. Is this right? I am ordering the repashy rhacodactylus book this week, but atm I can't find any information on humidity for cresteds. Thanks.

since no one has posed to help I will give my advice I only mist my creasties and keep there tank at 80% humidity So I think with a fogger you would be fine but I know the foggers I have used before had to be submurged in water so you may need to worry about gecko drowndings in large amounts of water and also just as experience those foggers get hot really hot sometimes and the water will cool it is it is full submerged but if it is out of the water a little it will get hot so be carful and if anything keep the tank humid with a dropper system

I keep mine at about 70% humidity through live plants and nightly misting. I've also kept them as dry as 50% with occasional mistings without shedding problems

Yeah I'm pretty sure that, with the fogger, the humidity will get up to say 90% (the fogger can't reach the whole tank) and then when its off the humidity left by it and the moist-ish soil will bring it down to like 50%. Also, I know how hot the fogger gets, so I am going to make a totally enclosed dish to put it in that the geckos will not be able to access, but i will.

I have an automated misting system hooked up to my guys, and it keeps them anywhere from 70-80%. I think that the misting should be fine for them, especially if you can mist them several times a day. I have had problems with all the foggers that I have tried in the past, so I have chosen to stick with misting.

Just spray the tank down at night before you go to sleep and they will be perfectly fine...dont worry to much about a perfect humidity reading, just be sure to mist the tank daily!

i have both a mister and a fogger. the cresteds prefer the fogger. the mister is going to be used for moss in the tokay cage. these guys love it. the love to sit by the fogger exhaust.
