mosses

Im setting up a natural viv and have some living mosses to put in,
do i just lay them on the substrate and they will attatch themselves?
there will be no geckos in there for a few months so they wont be desturbed.
also how quick do they grow and spread? i know it depends on species but roughly?

they should attach if you meet all of their needs, but most mosses are really slow growers.

it's really hard to tell unless you know the species of moss and there are thousands from what I have read about them you might want to check vivarium forums there is a link to it on the site right under the vivarium section and http://dendroboard.com/phpBB2/ is an awesome site for anything related to setting up a naturalistic ecosystem in a tank
