Male Borbonica Borbonica

My latest acquisitions:

1.2 Phelsuma borbonica borbonica
2.3 Anolis allisoni

All housed together in a 4x4x2 planted tank, doing quite well but still settling in. I was only able to grab the one shot of the male before he disappeared--these guys can move--I will post more pictures as the animals make themselves less scarce.

Hi
Personally I think its a very bad idea to mix these rare and expensive animals together in 1 tank(no matter what size). Anolis allisoni can only be kept in pairs because the males are very agressive towards another and they fight till death. Also combinations with anoles and phelsuma do not work and result in fighting. The best way to keep them is in pairs of the same species.

I am an experienced breeder-going on 20 years now. I am able to recognize potential problems and thus far, the animals couldn't be doing any better. I know mixing species is a touchy subject, borbonica borbonica are one of the few phelsuma which can be kept in multiple male groups, given the space is large enough to support them. As far as the allisoni, they have not shown any aggression whatsoever as of yet.

I appreciate your post and respect your opinion; I will keep an eye out and remove any animals if problems do occur. Thanks--

I Will Agree And I Will Say That Anoles Must Be Kept Seperated From The Geckos.anoles Generally Bite Badly Believe Me I Had Anoles And I Received As Gifts Many Good Bites To My Fingers.so Anoles When Theyre Semi-adults Eats Small Ratts And Mice And So Other Lizards Like Geckos.so Keep Them In Other Terrariums Away From The Geckos.

Anolis allisoni is not a large anole, not much bigger than a green anole and built quite similarly. Please if you are going to post - be more specific, and at the very least have some prior experience or knowledge of the animals at hand. If my allisoni begin to take small rats I will alert the press...

i agree with Sanderfrog 50% and that is because:

some males are more aggressive that other male from the same specie like borbonica ssp.

with anolis i have no experience so on that part i will keep my mouth shut:lol:

@sky****:

you have a beautyfull male, he is gorgeous.
here are mine:

and i will also obtain 2 male of the same like yours:
Interessengruppe Phelsuma: Phelsuma borbonica borbonica

and i also have a borbonica mater male sub-adult, but as you said that they can move, i can only agree with you on that part, very difficult:lol:

I agree that more than one male borbonica in the same enclosure with females could spell trouble. This being said, I know of accounts in the wild where more than one harem may inhabit the same area; therefore I would speculate that if the enclosure size is large enough there should be no problem. I do not feel the size of my enclosure could support any more males.

As for your pictures, very nice! Nice big male there, they are fun to keep and look great when they are not in hiding. I am a fan of dense vegetation so I do not get a large amount of viewing time at any one sitting. Good luck on acquiring more, I should have eggs dropping here in the next month or two. Thanks for your post--
