Skunk/Whitelined?

Okay, so some lady was just messing around with different reptiles and had three on the local CRAIGSLISTING and I took her up on it because I really wanted the Cham.... here's what I ended up with...
1- Ahkan - anole - green healthy and eating nicely. Has a great personality and lives happily in the trees and with the other reptiles -
1 - Kyle - Veiled Chameleon - HARDY EATER! OMG that bugger will eat 10 crickets right from our hands... and moody, omg... just look in his terrarium and he gets all pissy and huffs up, turns black and tan . crotchety... to say the least, but shows no aggression towards the other lizards
1 - Samantha - what we think is a white lined, or Skunk Gecko... now this one stumps us... she is dark army green with some kind of white band by her ears into a v behind her on her back and a very faint white line down to her ribbed tail....she is very friendly, beautiful eyes.. we've never witnessed her eating but we've had her 6 weeks and she's not dead.. so we kinda figure she's either eating the left over fall away crickets (meaning the ones Kyle the Cham somehow manages to let get away) or maybe the mealworms... she has done atleast one full shed so we just assume she's eating something...I am putting babyfood/honey down for her tonight - hopefully she'll take to that

Anyway, the reason we are writing is this....
We are not sure she's a skunk.. she does not behave completely like one... she stayed in the very bottom of our custom built terrarium until last night... we put a warm mist hummidifier in the terrarium...This has raised the top half of the terrarium to about 90 degrees and 100% humidity.... now she's up on the top side where the warm mist is, she's out in the day time and she seems so happy... just kinda moving around freely...

Now, let me say this.. we would never have put these three lizards together... but they were together when we got them and none of them have shown any signs of aggression towards each other.. infact Ahkan the anole has even shared his skin with Kyle the Chameleon... (kinda long funny story, but the gest is that Ahkan was shedding and enjoying his skin.. Kyle thought he would try it out, snapped out his tongue and took off the whole side of Ahkans shed.... weird, but funny, ofcourse Ahkan was none too happy to have Kyles tongue snapping at him so he moved to a lower branch)...but at night when it's bedtime, Ahkan crawls right under Kyle and they snuggle in for bed...

Anyway.. any help with telling if Samantha (the gecko) is a skunk or some other cool breed would be greatly appreciated....

This is my first post with pics, so please let me know if they dont show...

Thanks!

Looks like a white lined/skunk gecko (Gekko vittatus) to me. I'm going to move this thread to the "Gekko" section where it belongs. This is also where you'll find a lot more info on your gecko. Keep in mind that just because these animals are not showing aggression towards each other, doesn't mean that they aren't causing each other a great deal of stress. I personally would NOT recommend keeping them together.

Skunk Gecko

Thanks so very much for your feedback...
Would you keep any of them together? Or can any of them be kept with my leopard geckos? (I have them in a 55 gallon aquraium) by theirselves!
(Sorry about the misplaced post)

No apology needed for the misplaced post. I personally wouldn't keep any of those animals together or put them in with your leos. They'll all do much better and be much happier if they live in their own enclosures. Neither the anole or the lined require anything fancy.

Just letting you know the Cham will get big enough to eat the others eventually. I think some males get 2 feet, but not sure of the top of my head.

Not sure how compatable the anole and gecko are. It depends on the anole species I guess.

Not every gekko will act crazy and bite. My Golden Gecko doesn't bite but it tends to jump and wander off so it's not really handleable either.

I strongly suggest, as others have already, that you set all 3 up separately.

none of them have shown any signs of aggression towards each other.. infact Ahkan the anole has even shared his skin with Kyle the Chameleon... (kinda long funny story, but the gest is that Ahkan was shedding and enjoying his skin.. Kyle thought he would try it out, snapped out his tongue and took off the whole side of Ahkans shed.... weird, but funny, ofcourse Ahkan was none too happy to have Kyles tongue snapping at him so he moved to a lower branch)

Veiled Chameleons can and will eat anoles if they get a chance. I don't think that the cham was trying to get a piece of the skin. He was most likely trying to zap the anole for lunch. Since the anole was shedding, the skin would have been loose enough to separate from the anole once it was stuck to the cham's tongue. Instead of an anole lunch, he got a skin sandwich. I can agree that Ahkan wasn't happy about it all, he was thinking it was his turn to head to Rainbow Bridge.

...but at night when it's bedtime, Ahkan crawls right under Kyle and they snuggle in for bed...

Again, it's not all as simple as that. I'm sure your anole knows that he's going to be a cham snack sooner or later, so he's protecting himself as best he can. Chams can see in all directions, making it easy to find their prey. Their long tongues allow them to grab the unsuspecting anole from far away. However, the cham is severely limited by lack of mobility. He can zap up, sideways and even lower down than he is, but he can not zap anything underneath him. So, for the anole, that's the safest place to spend the dangerous night --- snuggled right under the cham. There's no way the cham can bend his head and neck far enough to grab anything right underneath.

It sounds to me that the anole is aware he's in danger and for now, his instinct is helping him survive.
Reptiles don't snuggle for companionship. The ones that do 'hang out together' do so for safety. If one is alone when a predator comes hunting, it's almost guaranteed 100% chance that you'll be caught. If there are 2 of you hanging out, it's a 50% chance of being dinner. The more, the merrier, better survival options for you. In the case of your anole, he's not 'snuggling', he's surviving by hiding in the one place the predator can't get him. If you find the anole and gecko hanging out, chances are it's for better survival odds.

Another reason for setting them up separately is that they need different environments to thrive And chams don't do well in glass enclosures, they NEED air circulation, something that doesn't happen in an aquarium or the enclosure in your picture. The cham would be better off in a screen cage. Same with the leopards, they need a completely different environment than the other three.
If you want them to thrive, set them up separately, the info can be found on this forum by doing a search, or on probably hundreds of care-sheets online. Just because the former owner kept them together doesn't mean it should stay that way. Give them a fair chance and treat them correctly.

Wow!

okay, thank you for that super indepth and knowledgeable reply!

Let me first make it clear that both sides of that enclosure are completely screened from top to bottom, the middle "shelf" seperates the "rainforest effect" from the dark cool bottom.... there was much research done on all creatures and the enclosure was created with all three creatures natural habititats (as read from online care sheets - granted I am not nieve to believe EVERYTHING I read)... the enclosure they came in was a square box looking cage thing (you would have truly thought they were being tortured in that thing).... there is black plastic coated screen that runs up both sides from floor to ceiling and holes with ventilation running through them just below the shelf to the top.... the bottom however is acting very much like an aquarium would... no vents except what air can get in from above....

Second, my baby leos are all by themselves in a 55 gal aquarium, they have a heated side a medium middle and a cool other side, they have every single possible time of substrate that I've read healthy for lil leos... except papertowel, it's been set up as much like their lil pakastanian home as I can possibly make it...they have multiple hides all over the tank... and for now they all seem to find the same spot together depending on the time of day... (they are all babies - no sex yet although two very much seem to be more paired up than the third... not sure if that's an early sign or just two leos that like to be together)

We are building Samantha her own enclosure next week, for she is meeting with her new boyfriend next week.... the enclosure I plan to build will look very much like the one you saw in the photo but will have a left and ride side set up for ease of divide so they can be put together or kept seperate after mating....

However, for now, Ahkan and Kyle will be stuck together... hopefully ahkan will survive since he's not THAT much smaller than Kyle at the moment... after Sam's new enclosure we'll work on Ahkans lil place....the current enclosure has a working rainforest in it now (not in the photo - much improvement has been made since that photo)

anyway, thank you all for the wonderful feedback! Its been great hearing from all sides!
