Crested newbie in search of friends!

Hello, I got my first Crestie on my birthday this year (Jan 3rd)! Like many first-timers, I have a lot of questions, so I thought I would try to make some friends who are also gecko owners. My father bought him for me, and didn't know the age or gender, but after a bit of research I estimated his age to be 3-4 months at the time of purchase. I wasn't sure of the gender at first, but decided to say it was a male and named him Koji lol. I think I made a wise choice, because the bulge seems to be growing. I don't know what morph he is either, because he had hardly any pattern at all when I got him, and was a light yellow color. The older he gets the more a pattern seems to be emerging and his color is deepening. So, I would love any advice on figuring out what he is! Perhaps he's still too young to tell...?(^_^;)

This photo was taken about two weeks ago.

Hey, Koji is a beautiful gecko. I think hes a yellow pinstripe, he could end up an orange but right now he looks yellow to me. And he looks like hes got some pinstriping or reverse pinstriping. Hes really a beautiful gecko.

P.S. It's nice to see some fellow Michiganders on this forum :).
I'm sure if you biring him to the show, not sure if you know about those, but if you do go I'm sure Matt or I could tell you the sex for sure.

Good luck =]

Thanks for the replies, guys lol.

I know there are reptile shows, but I've never been to one. Like I said, this is my first gecko, so I'm new to this!

Small world! What city do you live in?

It says in your profile you are a breeder. Do you breed crested geckos? I want to get a female at some point, and I only know of one pet shop around here that sells cresties, but they get them from a local breeder and the guy at the shop didn't seem to know much about the geckos, not even how to sex them lol. But, I do know Koji is a male for sure! I took some photos and there are definitely pores!

I live in Northville, wbu?

Yes i do breed crested geckos. Yeah there aren't too many pet shops that sell them around me. There was a petco in novi but they shut down. Personally i don't like to get my cresteds from pet shops cuz usually they just have babies and when i'm buyin i'm looking for adults, but sometimes you can get away with a steal at a petco or petsmart. Who did you get your crestie from?

Hi

I had a couple of crested geckos at different times and would love to help you out. From the geckos that I have owned, I have discovered that sometimes the patterns turn out later in life. It looks like his pattern is coming out slowly too. As for the gender, if the bulge continues to grow than he is mostly likely a male. It is harder to tell until they are close to 7 months to a year. I wish you luck with your little guy.:yahoo:

Holy crap, I'm in Plymouth lol.
I've never seen a crested at petco or petsmart. My dad got him from House of Pets in Garden City. House Of Pets - Home
They sell all different kinds of reptiles and exotic pets. They have all different ages of cresties, sometimes even adults.

Thanks so much. I know it's a male for sure now. I took a photo and there are visible pores.
