Just wondering how common it is for albino leos to be blind or have bad vision. My baby wont eat anything and I am wondering if it is because she just cant see the food so she cant catch it or it is a different problem. I tried smooshing up a meal worm and feeding her in my hand but she spit it out. I am just really worried as to what is causing this. If she is sick what do you think it could be?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! :)

alot of albino leos are inbred and that can lead to problems in genetics ( just all around weakness and hormone problems) and blindness may not necciseraly be the cause of your leo not eating. the corn snake hobby (albinos and other morphs) is having that problem more and more every year and i really hope that leos dont end up as bad as them. also if it has alot of access to uvb rays them that can cause problems with albinos eyes and skin. thats why you never see albino bearded dragons and its because they need those uvb rays but end up becoming blind/ weak because of the rays they need. i hope you baby leo will be ok but theres not alot you can do besides to keep on trying.

Cami, you say it's a baby...how old is it? Also, have you tried feeding anything other than mealworms? How long has it been since it's eaten?

She is about 1 month old and I tried feeding her crickets too by hand. I have only had her for about a week and she hasn't eaten since then. I made an appoitment at the vet today so hopefully they can help her.

thtas not a really big deal for a baby leo to not eat for a week after it gets home as long as you saw it eat at the store or its tail is fat and not really skiny. i think your leo will be fine but like i said it could be genetics to. also for future advice ask to see the geckos eat or atleast ask what they are feeding on, how often, etc. good luck and keep us updated.

My one albino, Spike, began having eating problems when she was around three months old. She would lunge at food, but miss every time and kept acting like she couldn't see it. I got her and another one, Dante, at the same time. Spike never grew any bigger than about three to four inches. I had to cage her alone because of her size and inability to eat well. It's been almost a year since this and she is still alone, and eating fine. I could never figure out what the problem was, I know it was anything like MBD. One of my friends told me that some of the leos just stay smaller.
