Blizzards, Snow Blizzards, Bananna Blizzards....

Okay guys.. everyone around these parts seems to be working on "Tangies, Sunglows, High Yellows"... I want to offer our area a variety. I want to specialize in Blizzards. I am cleaning out my reptile room in an effort to specialize in just one area.

I chose blizzards because of the Diablo Blanco. My dream Gecko.

My personal rule is NEVER will anything from my reptile room be inbred. I want enough pairs that I never ever have to breed siblings or parent/child combos. I want to make sure they have nothing but the best food, nothing but the best temps and housing, when I sell my blizzards I want them to be known as the "RON TREMPER of BLIZZARDS" - the best of the best!

So... with that being said.. how about all of you shooting me info... tell me what you know about blizzard genetics.. how to get the whitest of whites... any experience you have will be greatly appreciated...

I heard there was no such thing as a blazing banana blizzard - well first I'd like to know how did the name come about if it's never been made? Does anyone know anything about what it would take to come up with a blazing banana blizzard?

Bottom line:
What do you know about Blizzards?

You could produce a blazing banana blizzard, but I don't think it would actually show the banana trait. It would however contain the genetics.

I would suggest figuring out what your budget is first and then purchasing the best animals that you can afford that bring you closest to your goal of producing Diablo Blancos.

If you have some specific questions, as always, feel free to PM me.

To get the purest white, you will (more thane likely) have to line breed.
A Banana Blizzard is a blizzard/patternless cross, but do to the incompatibility of the blizzard gene, this is a very difficult combination to produce.

But, blizzards are pretty much a dead end morph, it is a patternless white animal. the only improvements that can be made (IMO) is a cleaner white or a more pinkish animal, instead of the commonly seen grays.

yeah I currently have three blizzards - all of them look grey... see attached:

:-( it's sad that anyone, especially someone as respected as yourself would think the one gene I want to perfect could/is "dead end"... but you're right.. cant get much better than pure white with no spots/stripes.... oh well...

It's not that it's a bad thing, I love them and I breed them. Just making sure that you are aware!!
But I don't understand how that is 'sad'?

You could add the giant gene in there and have giant blizzards!!

p.s.
Me? Respected? Ha!

yeah, I was thinking about trying the Giant Gene... one of my females is unusually large... i I bred her to an albino or patternless giant maybe I could get the giant gene in there - is that how it works?

sorry I am only 8 mths into geckos and only about a week into learning genetics!

Yes YOU Respected - I respect every comment you've made (havent ALWAYS agreed with you but certainly respect what you've said) *LOL*

Giant is co dom, super giant is dominant. so if you get a giant and breed it to a blizzard, you will get 50% giants 50% normals, all het for blizzard.
Super giant to blizzard would produce all giants, het for blizzard.

midnights are blizzards incubated at low temps... nothing special!

THIS is what you want, but you will need to sell your first born!

Holy crap!!!:drool::drool::drool:
Forget the Midnight, I just found my new number one!!:yahoo::yahoo:
Thank you very much for replying by the way; cause I had no idea that they were just incubated at a low temp. Couldn´t find anything about them, on the common morph pages.:)

Thanks!!!! I've put LG wiki now under "favorites", as well as the website with the black pearl leo's!

One more question Nate (just for my curiousity:D); I see you keep more than 90 leo's, and more than 55 crestie's. (I am sooooooo jealous!!!;-)) How do you keep that many animals?? Do you use a garage or something like that to house them?? Or do you sleep in a tent, outside your house?

Anyhow, thanks again,
Greetings,

Cindy

I am moving my collection back into my house on Friday, so I will try to post pics on Saturday.
But I keep the leos in 2 6 foot tall racks, and Debbie keeps her cresties in exoterras all around her house!!
All I have out side of the reptiles in my house is a bed and a tv. And I JUST bought the bed last week!
