lighting through glass? (full spectrum/UVB)

This question applies to DIY vivaria and those posts that recommend turning a 20, 30, or 40 gal aquarium on end to get a vertically oriented tank for climbers like Uroplatus, Phelsuma, etc.:

Does putting a layer of glass between your lights and your gecko negate or reduce the UVB or full spectrum lighting many geckos need to maintain their health?

Hi im new at geckos but from what ive read the glass will block out some of the uvb. some of the verical tank that i have seen have the top glass removed and replaced with screen.

Float glass generally blocks out UVB to the extent that you'll have no use of the UVB lighting. I'll try to find a source on this..
