I hope this is in the right section, if not I apologize.....the 20 gallon hexagonal tank I all ready have is for my Phyllomedusa tomopterna(two juvies/froglets joining him soon)......I've had it set up for a couple of weeks all ready, though for the top I just have screen mesh draped over the top and held in place by the flourescent light strip hood...and...books. The temporary solution y'see...
I know I want to stick w/ the screen mesh for ventilation(and then syran wrap for humidity control)....but w/ the help of someone else, I'm/We're going to make a top for this tank. He wants to use pine wood, cut to the angles/shape/perimeter of the top and have the mesh velcro'ed ontop somehow.....also creating a latch in the middle so there would be a "door" effect. My initial question/concern is.....would the wood---if in the presence of water/misting/exposure---be privy to rotting? Is there a terrarium/amphibian-safe paint that can be applied to take care of that?
The tank looks great, it's a huge size upgrade for the inhabitant....I just need to get this top done and we'll be set!
Thank you for your time!
Alex
(note: i didn't put this in the 'other herps' section/site because i thought that this beginner section would be appropriate and had perhaps more....traffic! )
