Something to be worried about?

Hey, I posted this in my last thread but didn't get a reply, just wondering what you guys think.....

"I just wanted to get your opinions on this, I plan to keep my new girl in with my other 3. I'm not really that worried about "bullying" as I got Breitling when shes was quite a bit younger and smaller than Leeloo and Tango, but I just wanted to ask about other peoples experiences. My leos are generally good natured and unaggressive, I never experienced any bullying with Breitling and they have enough room to each have their own space"

Thanks for your input :)

Well, I've never tried housing leos together who weren't close to the same size before, so I've no experience with this to comment about. I would guess, though, that since you had no problems with Breitling settling in with Tango and Leeloo, and if the size difference between Revel and the others is about the same as when you introduced B with the others, you should be able to do the same as you did with Breitling. Then again, a lot depends on Revel's personality. Hopefully she'll be as laid back as your other three and everybody will get along!

Combining leopardgecko's turned out very well in our house, mostly. I had one female, that didn't like a female I wanted to place in her group later one (both were adults), she really hunted the other female and attacked her. That was the only combinition that didn't work.

There is just one thing I did learn the hard way, to put it. Young baby's are harder to combine. We ones put a new baby in with two baby's that were just one week old, and the youngest lost her tail. I never do that again. Not because of the age difference or the size difference (that doesn't always matter), but more because these really young baby's are easily stressed and quickly wave their tails. Supper for the other ones...

But between older animals (even to as young as a month) a little difference in size is acceptable).

I hope you understand my answer, seeing as english is not my native tongue).

Regards,
Tamara

We mostly haven't had problems with housing multiple geckos together, but we did have one female that was highly aggressive that would literally stalk the other geckos in the cage. We have another female gecko that is the sweetest little thing. But then the other day, I had her out with another male because I was taking pictures of the two together, and she bit his tail! It freaked me out to say the least. Just make sure you monitor them once they are together :)

PS- Love the name Leeloo :D

ok kazska my experience with this is that it mkes it all good if you put a hide in that only the small one can get into just in case of bullying but i hink since mine s a male he just put my girl in place cause he was top dog (leo) in the first day

ok, well atm I have 4 hides.... (one log, 2 caves and a moss hide) then I have the stairs to hide on and various places to hide behind stuff :) I wouldn't want to risk taking up more ground space by putting another hide in but if she does need more space or another place to hide I'll make some changes :) I'm only really worried bout the fact that a couple of mine are almost fully grown and I don't want them to bully her.... they're usually quite calm though, I'll just have to keep an eye on them :)
