My gecko got out thismorning and im very afraid to lose him because I have 3 cats. I found his tail on the floor, my cat was looking at it and I really hope he didn't get the gecko. Ive looked everywhere, all the nooks and everything.Any ideas of how to get him back? or what kind of places he may be? Thank you.

Found him!

I found him a couple hours ago, he was sleeping in my backpack. I was so worried but he's ok, the cats didn't do anything to him. he looks so different now without his tail tho :p

Thank god for a happy ending. I have never kept cresties, but once, I lost one of my leos. The way I figure it, I took him out of the cage, and forgot to put him back. (I know, I am really irresponsible) Thankfully, we found him under my bed 5 minutes later, but I learned my lesson, and it will never happen again!

My advice is that if it ever happens again, put your cats in those pet carrier crates, and look as hard as you can, closing doors in rooms, so there is at least a slightly less chance of it getting out of the room.

I know humans are thankful for opposable thumbs, but I think that droppable tails are better.

Thank goodness!! I was so scared for you. We have 3 cats as well, and we rigged the tank so there are bungees hooking the top down so there is no danger of the cats getting in, or the gecko getting out. It was very easy, just screwed 2 hooks right into the table it's sitting on, and then 2 metal loops on the tank screen cover. 2 small bungee cords connecting the tank cover to the table prevent any danger of cat/gecko interaction. I highly recommend something like that if your cats are clever enough to get the top of the tank off somehow.

So glad your little one is ok. :)

He's a crested gecko, they stick to the sides of tanks and stuff, thats how he got out, i think my cat might have opend the tank making it easier for him, that made me so much more afraid tho because that meant he could have been anywhere, even on the ceiling.

The dropping tails are deffinately a life saver. Do they grow back? i don't think so but I'm not 100% sure, does anyone know?

Thank you all for your concern and advice =) I have a pic of him, with his tail and without it, anyone want to see?

Hello!

Yeah, cats and gecko rooms are a bad combination, as i lost my favorite Pink pastel crested gecko that way. It escaped and before I made it home, my lil brothers cat had caught it. I have learned, but have not yet hatched another gecko as coll as the one that I lost....
SOOO glad you found your crested!
