Second & Third!!!
she just laid 2 eggs minutes ago in the middle of a snow storm too
who canadian is that? :yahoo:
this is a chance for me to confirm her genetics. she was sold as a normal but always had the qualities of a low grade mack. any advise from experienced breeders would be great.
i have her first egg incubating for male and i want to incubate these 2 for female. then i plan on mating the male offspring the both his mother and siblings. would this be enough to confirm mack bloodline?
ALSO if i start to cool her now would she stop laying eggs or will that harm her?
thanks in advance

this morning I woke up to a big surprise. I noticed that someone had been digging allot in the tank (I was hoping for eggs but when it didn't happen earlier in the season I gave up hope). my boyfriend told me one of my females Hannibal (who I thought was a boy origanally) had been digging like crazy all morning, he thought she was hungry so he fed her and he said after she drank like crazy. this was the light bulb moment, she hadn't eaten anything for just over a week and she is a pig. so I went to work and found 1 egg. she's a year and a half so I figured it was hers.
the history part is, her mate Tonka which was a rescue (I actually rescued a pair) and I was told that they never reproduced. the female laid eggs on and off but they never hatched or deflated after being laid. when I introduced Hannibal to the pair everything was fine and mating happened almost immediately. that was over 7 months ago. so I figured he was the sterile one.
here’s the cute part, the egg was found in the humid hide under the old female. my boyfriend said they where both in there at the same time but didn't actually see the laying. I like to think (but know better) that Pinky (the old female) was being a little maternal seeing how she hasn't laid any eggs in over 2 years. I’ve had her for 1 year and when I recued her she was supper skinny. I am happy to say she is very healthy. oh and if anyone is wondering they all live in a 4'x2'x2.5' tank with 2 levels, everyone has their personal space and they all get along, no stress.
as for they egg I’m keeping it in a deli dish in moist coconut fiber on a shelf at a constant 82F. if it hatches cool if it doesn't no big loss but I’m excited and since all my friends aren't into herps or don't understand it I thought I would babble to you guys.
do you think she will lay anymore it's winter here in Toronto Canada? any replies would be awesome, I would like some insight. I have been keeping leos for over 7 yrs, and have experience with all kinds of herps but this is MY first egg so I’m excited:biggrin:
