Lygodactylus sp.

I have recently come across a deal and would like your opinion as to whether I should take it. A local pet store recieved some imported Lygodactylus. They have Lygodactylus kimhowelli and I think also Lygodactylus picturatus. They are 19 dollars each and I would probably pick up a pair of each if I got them. They are definately wild caught with mites and possible internal parasites but some of the females look gravid.

What do you folks think? Go with the geckos and do the work to get them healthy and breedable or pass it up? What is a good price for these guys? They are cool and active geckos. Just not sure if I want to go through the trouble of making sure they thrive (although I am sure it won't be that bad!)

Do you have any experience with deworming and "cleaning up" fresh imports. If you do, than I say go for it. If not, make sure you have everything you need, including all the know how, before you do it.
It's really not that tough to do, just make sure you're ready. And brace yourself for losses, sometimes you just cant prevent it. I'm not sure what your budget is like, but pick up a few extras if you can. If not, at least you'd be learning on an inexpensive species.
Again all that was assuming you haven't done this before. Good luck and keep us updated.

I did the best thing I could, got a part time job there and am taking care of them until they produce at which point I will purchase the eggs at a discount and raise the CB babies to adults for breeding!

I am soooo smart!

:idea:Well that works. And if some are gravid, then you shouldn't have to wait long at all for those eggs.
