Nice job Nicole,

Did you incubate all at the same temperature? The person I bought my initial animals from produced almost all females. Another person who knows this species well hinted to me that I needed to up my incubation temps slightly if I wanted to produce any males. Therefore I'm assuming these are TSD, although I don't know the exact parameters yet. Still waiting on some of my eggs to hatch. I haven't had success yet, but changed a few things with the most eggs, and they're candling nice and pink right now, so perhaps I have things right this time.

I did not know my female had eggs, i found them after a few week (6 eggs at once) so they have been in the viv for the first few weeks.
i do not know the temperature but I will be testing the temperature this year.
I had my incubator at around 27 degrees C.

Awesome animals Nicole. I always hear people saying the have problems keeping babys alive over here though. What kind of substrate are you keeping those on I've never seen that before.

Nicole,

Congratulations on your litter! Did they all hatch at the same time, and are they from a single female? Most geckos can only fill each oviduct with a single egg at a time, resulting in only a maximum of two eggs per clutch. Wow! I am amazed at their similarity to horned lizards (Phrynosoma) from the southwestern U.S. I wonder if the Helmeted Geckos are relatively obligatory ant eaters in the wild as well? Is this species day active?

Regards,

Dave

Amazing geckos.
I really like the females, Nicole!
One day I'll add these little creatures to my collection.

René.

@davidk
the eggs are from one female and one male.
the femaile produced the eggs in a very short period, 4 clutches of 2 eggs within a few weeks.
the first eggs were left in the viv for the first weeks.
the first 4 eggs hatched within 1 week and the 2 other eggs hatched about 4 weeks later. one egg broke and one egg was bad.
helmeted gecko´s are insect eaters and eat everything that moves.
helmeted gecko´s are smaller than the horned lizards, horned lizards are very rare in europe they are on my most wanted list, but first i have to set up an ant colony for them. I already found a breeder.
Helmeted gecko´s are night active animals.
