Hey,

I saw a couple of these guys at the Central PA Reptile Expo in Carlisle and I was wondering if anyone had them. How hard are they to keep and such?

There is an excellent website by British guy and I think his name is Dean or Dave. Google it by searching for Tribolonotus gracilis. You can find posts on this forum as well by searching under the same name.

Sorry I didn't comprehend your post until just now..duh. Yes, I have a pair and yes they are secretive and they have a few extra steps to take for their care like distilled water and mistting twice a day. However, I have had mine for a couple of months now and have missed a misting or so and they are still with me, so they are not super delicate.

They are a display animal and mine are tame enough to be held for short periods but haven't taken food from me. I enjoy tinkering with their tank. Be sure to have a lid of water so they can soak if needed. Mine like to poop in their so not sure if this is a requirement for bowel movements or not. Yes, they like to hide, but at times I have found them 'basking' as well.

Their first defensive manauver is to play dead. Playing dead to them is not moving a twitch when you pick them up so don't think they are complacent when you do this, they are scared because they know you are going to eat them .

Anyway, you will find lots of info on Dean's website and more if you follow up on the resources he lists including sound recordings of their vocalizations. They are cool little dudes to have but not very animated compared to the geckos.
