Hello. My name is Matt, I go by Matt K on any forum I visit or participate in. No alias'.
I have kept reptiles for the better part of 20 years. Mostly snakes with some turtles and a few geckos. At the height of my collection I had over 90 specimens. During that time I also kept various aquatic invertebrates and fish, as well as a number of insects. A few years ago my collection was down to 18 snakes, and I sold off most of those to focus on insects- mostly exotic roach species. I have somewhere around 70 roach species in culture, and the 'reptile fever' is back on me again.... so I have been clearing out many of the more common roach cultures and filling in with terrariums with the intention on keeping various geckos and lizards. Other than geckos I like lacertids and tree monitors, a few tarantula and scorpion, amblypygids, and my few snakes. Many of the geckos I really like tend towards smaller species, though I do enjoy the Gekko genus.
Some gecko varieties I like in particular but certainly not limited to:
Gekko vitattus
Coleonyx Elegans
Pachydactylus tigrinus or any other Pachydactylus sp. it seems
Paroedura picta
Gekko ulikovskii
Hemidactylus prashadi
Gonatodes sp.
Lygodactylus sp.
Sphaerodactylus sp.
Lialis burtonis – legless gecko
Gekko gecko
...And, although not gecko but I am really keen on various Anolis sp.
Funny thing is: I really get excited over anything that eats roaches... though I also culture waxworms, fruit flies, mealworms, superworms, some beetles, and unintentionally phorid flies....
Generally, I say the captive rearing and breeding of reptiles is a very rewarding hobby.
