My S. williamsi and their new viv

These are my Strophurus williamsi, I know I posted these guys when I got them but I have just finished sorting their viv out and I think its pretty cool so I wanted anyones opinions on what they thought of it. The viv is 18 inches long x 20 inches wide x 24 inches high which maybe a tad too big for them lol. I have included a pic on my hand of the female (Bunyip)and the male (Uluru) is in the viv on the branch in his pic. The viv has sand on the bottom covered with a layer of oak leaves, there is a damp box filled with sphagnum moss; there is cork bark, apple branch and silk leaves in there and it is heated with a small bulb on a stat. I am planning on adding a 5% uvb bulb as well.

I'm planning on breeding these guys this year so fingers crossed - I've got two more females on order as well so I will have a lovely group of them, I'm very excited!

I'm completely in love with this Genus of geckos and hope to be keping a few more species very soon.

I'm sorry the viv pic isnt up to much - I cant remove the glass so I had to try and angle it so I didnt catch the flash lol

Nice geckos. I've read in a reptile book that Strophrurus species release a substance from their pores when scared.

I believe the male looks more appealing than the female. Uluru has awesome tiny spikes on his tail and looks very good in the pic with him on the stick :D

Thanks - they do vary in colour quite considerably they both turn very pale almost white, right through to slate grey. The male does have bigger spines on his tail though.

Hi Lauren, Looking from the pics, it would seem the male and female are two forms 'spotted' and 'reticulated'. Were they sold as seperate forms?

Hi Justin, they were sold as the same but to be honest i hadnt even checked. I know the female gets similar markings to the male on a night - I will try and get a pic of them together to compare. Will it make a difference if they are different forms?

Be good to see a comparison pic please Lauren, most people prefer to keep the forms seperate but there's no problem with mixing them.

Very nice! Bunyip? Isnt that the aussie version of bigfoot, yeti, and sasquach? nice name! Oh and I agree. the female is deffintly a spotted and the male a retic.

Lol thanks guys for your input - I am goignt to definately get some pics of her 'coloured' up she does have similar markings to him. The Bunyip is a mythological Australian water creature and I named my male Uluru after the famous rock in the Aussie outback.
Thanks passport I may have gone a tad overboard with the leaves but it looks cool lol. I've caught them climbing around on the floor amonst them hunting, they seem to like them.

Your right! Now I remember. I was watching a episode of Destination Truth and they were looking for it. I forget what the australian version of the big foot is called.
