A.persica possible problem...

I have a female A.peresica that was bred by Rene for agamura.nl. She is now adult and ready to breed. She was always eating very well and accepted everything. She was in very good condition and I decide to cool her and my male a bit. Lightning was reduced and lamps were lower W. The temps were about 21-25 degrees Celsius. I didn't feed them durng that period and I was just providing water. They were still a bit active during the night. About 7 days ago I started warming them and now the temp is about 35-40 degrees on hot spot. Male started eating a bit, but she isn't interested in any food. She lost some weight during this time and it is visible on her tail base and head. Her fat reserves are still very big and plump. She is active and basks during the day and night, as far as I can see her behaviour is same as before, only that she isn't interesting in food.

My questions are:

- Did anyone experienced similar eating habits after cooling?
- Here is the picture of her vent, which I took a few days ago. I saw she had some sand stuck to the vent, so I did give her two baths in tepid water and that was easiyl removed, but today I see again some sand.

Any input would be great. I don't know what to do with her and I just hope she will start eating soon.

Hi,

Like I said in the emails. It's a strange problem.
I've never had this problem with my Agamura.
Though I have to say I always keep feeding my Agamura.
Even during the cooling periods.
I hope she'll start eating in a while.
Just keep misting the viv. once or twice a week.
Let the female rest (so don't handle her) and try to feed her every orther day.

René.

Yeah, I do it exactly as you said. She was very stressed after two days while I was picking her up for the bath, so I left her alone. Hope she starts eating again.

When I cool any of my reptiles I don't feed them during that period, so I thought to do the same with Agamuras. The male is eating but she isn't interested. I thought cose they like it hot that when the temps drop to 20+ degrees Celsius they can't digest the food right, apparently I was wrong.

I had a similar situation few years ago with E.macularius female. She was aslo about 1.5-2 years old and ready to breed, but she was never cooled. After cooling she didn't start eating and I was concerned, but then after a months or so after heat was on she suddenly started again. I just hope it will be similar with this one.
