Hello all, I did not check my cages for 1 day and earlier today I noticed that my raptor had escaped some how... So I looked for it. I was worried. Then I found it. BUT it had fallen on a mouse trap. Thankfully it was an old glue trap. I was shocked by the sight of it. It was completely stuck on the glue except for the head. I felt so bad cuz it was my fault. My first thought was that he was suffering and that I should put it out of it's missery. BUT I snapped out of it. I was not gonna give up on my buddy. Fortunately I came up with an idea. I rushed to the bathroom and began soaking the trap/gecko in warm water. It worked. The glue changed its consistency. So I began to gently get him out of it. First the front leg. Then the back leg. The tail afterward. It was a very stressful situation. The body was the hardest part to free. I proceeded to gently part away the glue from the skin while under water. Little by little. Carefully. Meanwhile I beat myself up for letting this happen. The body was free. Now I had to work on the front leg. Then the hind leg. FINALLY, he was free. Still a little shaken by this ordeal, he climbed on my arm. Some parts of his body were still sticky, I rubbed calcium powder on his body to get rid of the remaining glue. Then I placed him in his cage and closed it tight. I was grateful. I did not give up on him. It took nearly 40 minutes to free him. I did it gently and without stressing him more than he already was. He will be alright. He is a fighter! :fight:
