What is too hot for a leo?

I was just wondering how hot is too hot? I had been measuring my warm side at about 90 degrees, but today when moving the tank I realized the thermometer wasn't directly over the uth. I put it right over the uth and the temp was reading 100-101. So I turned off the heat lamp and now it's about 99 over the uth. Is that too hot? It's still about 75 on the cool side.

I am wondering the same thing! But I also wanted to ask if anyone knows how to get thermometers OFF a glass tank wall...

I was given my tank and it already had the thermometer stuck to the side of the tank. It's kind of high on the tank wall and I feel like it's really inaccurate. I have one of those $3 sticker-type thermometers on the floor over the UTH, but I'm not sure how accurate that is either cause it's a sticker.... I just can't seem to get the thermometer OFF the tank to replace it with one closer to the ground and I was wondering if anyone knew how. I don't want to just keep adding thermometers....

I keep mine at 97F with no problem (though I wouldn't recommend going much higher than that in my opinion), definitely take the lamp out if you are using a good UTH and maybe get a rheostat or thermostat to help control the output of the mat.

As far as thermometers go, digital is the way to go. Analog (also known as the stick on ones) are not very accurate. Digital thermometers with a probe should be used, and the probe should be over the heat mat.

99 is a little bit to high. In my opinion 97 is the highest I would go. If the UTH is heating the tank that much maybe take away the lamp.

I keep my rack at about 97 degrees as well.
Just keep in mind that your body temperature is 98.6ish degrees and they never seem to mind that, do they? =P

Where can you get the digital ones with a probe? PetsMart and PetCo are the only pet places by me and their digital thermometer doesn't have a probe.

Also, any idea how to get the old ones off?

PetSmart and PetCo should both carry digital thermometers with probes. If the ones in your area don't for some reason then you could order them online. There is a very wide variety of reptile supply sites.

Here are the thermometers that PetCo and PetSmart carry:
Zoo Med Digital Thermometer at PETCO

Digital Thermometer for Terrariums - Habitats & Accessories - Reptile - PetSmart

Those are the two I've seen in the stores here.

Here's a few good reptile supply sites:

Reptile Supplies and Exotic Animals
reptilesupply.com - Reptile Supplies.

There's many others but there's too many to list
