Heating/decorating a plastic tub?

I have my leo in a plastic tub right now. It seems a little longer than a 20 gallon long, so it is pretty big. I am using a heat lamp with a 100W red bulb for heat, but the temps seems to vary a lot. Sometimes her day temps are as low as 80 degrees F and other times they are as high as 92. It is 91.2 degrees F in there (hot side) right now. I let the temps in the tub fall to about 65-70 at night. My room temperature has a lot to do with it as well. I figured that an UTH would stabilize the heat a little more, but I can't do a UTH in a plastic storage tub like I have now. So unless I get her a glass tank, she can't have a UTH. And the plastic tub is working just fine for us otherwise.
Also, right now I have play sand as substrate. Yes, I know the dangers. But she has a flat rock in her cage that I set her worms on, one at a time, and she gobbles them up. There is no sand on the rock for her to ingest. I always feed her either on her rock or from a bowl. But I would like to make a more natural environment. For those of you who have used foam to make rock walls and such, what, if anything, do you put over the foam as substrate? I would like to get some GreatStuff foam to make a rock wall and other cool stuff for her. Does this stuff adhere to plastic? I am probably going to keep her in the plastic tote until I get enough money to get her a really nice tank. But for now, its cheap and it works, right? Lol. So if anyone has any tips, tricks, websites, etc. for decorating a plastic tub, that would be great! I am going to go get a pic of the current setup to show you guys what I mean.
