have a question....
i am about to make a rack system for my leo.i will use a rope heater under the tubes...as i calculate i need about 20-23W per meter. it is going to produce enough heat to reach 31-32C
one thing that i can not predict, will one line of rope enough for flour space covered by the heat?
i think that about 3-5cm above the heat rope is going to be from 28-32C ...
dose any one have experience with heat rope in rack system?
and what W and style of heat sorce do u use...
thanks in advance

sorry if my spelling is wrong

I was thinking about building my own rack to but instead I took the lazy way out and just got one prebuilt. But when I was doing research and making my own plans, the rope form of heating was not the best way to go. It was better to ues the heat tap, something like flexxwatt that you can find here: Reptile Basics Inc :: Heating :: Flexwatt Heat Tape
the rope is not flat and would rub a lot more on the button of the tubs, plus I use it right now in my vivariums that I have set up and the heat is not totaly even dispite me following the directions on how to tape it to the bottom of the tanks. And unlike the rope heating, with the tape you can add to it, cut and alter it very easly.

but flexxwatt tend to get on fire...i have read about 10 cases that describe that...i read on one place that in Canada flexxwatt thing is band so i will go with rope...
i dont care if heat is uneven i just need to be around 32-31C

My old racks all wher heated with heatrope. Just make sure you heat about a third of the total floorspace. You kan sculpt slots in the plates to put the cable in, works fine.
Now I use heatmats. In my opinion they heat more eaven.
Use a thermostat to control the temps.
