So i got this new little gecko today, her name is TEEKA! She's a Tokay Gecko! I got her for free off of the internet! She's doing alot better now that i have warmed her up! and she seems to be doing alot better then when i first brought her home with me! I'll keep everyone posted on her and i'll post more pictures as i go! I haven't been able to hear her bark at me yet, or see her open her mouth! My boyfriend was able to pick her up, so maybe she's not as nasty as all Tokay Geckos seem to be! lol We shall see!

Enjoy!

i really don't know how old, i would guess only a few months, but i could be wrong. I'm not an expert at all, but in my experience, if you just feed her some crickets she wont look thin, mine goes from looking thin to fat day-to-day. I wouldn't worry unless she starts getting really thin and stops eating. And make sure you dust the crickets as well.

Teeka is doing GREAT! Very Active & Eating well, She wouldn't take a roach from me, but she LOVES Her crickets! :)

I will be moving her into a bigger tank soon! right now she's in Quarantine in a large Critter Keeper! But she seems to like it in there, haha, lots of places to hide and climb! I've been dusting her crickets, so hopefully that helps her out some!

I can open her cage and do whatever i want, without her even going crazy or making a peep! So i'll post new pictures once i have her in her new tank! :)

She's now eating everything in sight in her tank from crickets to small dubia roaches! :)

Hahaha, just wait til you have a full sized male hiding at the top and lunging from out of nowhere and barking so loud you drop the misting bottle!

Gods I love Tokays.
How many grams is she, do you know?

I've just got a new tokay but i am getting very different opinions on feeding regimes and when to dust. My new tokay is doing fine and ate five dusted crickets las night but should I dust them every feeding or every other feeding? and should I feed it everyday or every other day. Also I've got the temps at about 78f and drop to about 66f at night. he also has a light which he shares with the tree frog viv. reply as soon as possible. and criticise if needs be. I should have posted this on another thread but I thought i would like to post on this thread because people on here are in the same position as I am. by the way this is a 3' juvenile tokay. Any help appreciated

With a juvenile you should dust every feeding, tokays grow fast and they need calcium for strong bones/nervous system. Also, if you don't use UVB lighting make sure you use a suppliment that contains Vitamin D3. I feed my hatchling to subadult(about 7 inches) every day as much as they will eat in about 15 min. Tokays are good eaters, they can really pound the crickets/roaches.

Your temps are a bit low, tokays should be in the low 80's during the day with a 85-90F hot spot. 66F at night isn't too horrible, but I'd like to see low 70's instead. If the temps too low tokays can't thermoregulate and digest their food properly, especially young animals. Also, higher temps usually equal a faster growth rate.

Once your animal is adult you can switch to an ever other day feeding schedual or something similar.(I feed my adults 5 days a week, sometimes more for breeding females to maintain weight)

Hope this helps.

thanks i took on the advice and now my temps are about 82F all round with a basking spot of about 87F. And i have got a a red incandescent 40watt bulb on a thermostat as well to make sure he is about 72F at night. Thank you so much for your help and they really do pound the crickets! he is got through at least 10 in two nights!

Sounds perfect. Just wait until he grows up, my adults can easily eat 10-20 crickets each per feeding.
