Laying infertile eggs, how does this occur?

My female gargoyle seems to lay infertile eggs like a chicken. She has not been with the male since January but before that was with him constantly. Do females begin to produce eggs regardless of if the male has contributed? Or is it triggered by such a contribution? In which case my female is infertile. If the former would placing them back together effect this years brood?

Were dose your female lay the eggs? Because if she leyed it on the ground its very possiable it'll become infertal. Or the way you incubate them. Or even the health of the female you'll have to give her alot of calcium and food after each time she lays. She layes in her egg box which is full of moist eco earth type stuff. Her health seems good, shes as active as the male, maybe a little more relaxed but not lethargic or sickly in appearance.

Hi, is the male proven?There is no guarantee that your male is fertile,he could go through the motions and trigger the female with out actually fertilizeing the eggs.Quite often mine will lay an infertile clutch at the start of the season then all others will be fertile,it is almost like a practise run,hope you have better luck with the next ones

Females have a limited reproductive life. It's not unusual for them to start laying more infertile eggs after 6 years of breeding, by 8 years they could be laying only infertile clutches. If your female is over 6 years old, it could be the beginning of her 'menopause'.

Please check the info you post, pay particular attention to the species. You're posting leopard gecko info in reply to a gargoyle gecko question.
Leopard incubation info does not work with gargoyles, so you're misleading the poster and anyone else who tries to follow your advice.

I agree with the earlier posts. Are you successfully incubating other gecko eggs- like cresteds?
Have you thought about re-introducing the two again?

I am so so sorry for giving you the wrong information. I thought you were talking about Leopard geckos, because I was searching in the leopard gecko section and I found you in need of help. So I thought you were mentioning about Leopard geckos. And again I am so so sorry.
