Hi people me and my wife bought a geko 3 weeks ago and have been following lots of advice from different sites on the internet to try make it healthier. We are led to believe that she is only 3 monthsish old and after following lots of advice we have noticed that her poo is still very runny just wondering if anyone out there can help with this dilemma.

maybe you could try locusts? You can get really small ones for babies, my guy wont eat anything but. As soon as she starts eating the poop will start to look normal. What are the temps?

the temps are 90+ at warm end and 75 in the cool end I think I might have trouble finding baby locusts over here but thats what I fed my geko's when I lived in the uk and prefer them to anything else crickets suck and thats a fact

Just htought Id say that locusts seem to be exclusive to the UK pet trade, overhere there never are any in the the trade (US, CANADA)

An old law bans the selling/propagation of grasshoppers/locust. The temps sound fine... what type of substrate is she on (and was on at the pet store) whats he general attitude (frightened and hissy or cool and calm). Butterworms have been known to cause diarrhea but it also a symptom of parasites as is the loss of appetite. Pictures of the underside and tail/head would also be helpfull if you could get them.

The attitude is cool and calm she does run when I go to pick her up she is on kitchen roll as I thought sand wouldn't help things if she ingested it. I'm cleaning and changing the substrate at least twice a day to try and eliminate any spores. I don't really recall what she was on in the pet store I think it might have been sand. Its kinda weird as she is still very alert and as she is so young her tail is still kinda thin right now. Was giving her a warm bath over the past few days as her belly was rather blue and thought she might have been impacted she pooed every time she was in the water and her belly became clear again.

The blue is the liver/gallbladder they show through the skin allot when they are impacted or skinny. The water bath is a good idea try adding a few teaspoons of sugar to the water next time though it has a greater effect that way in relieving impaction (and prolapses if you ever have that problem). Try changing the substrate every other day or every 2 days stress can also cause a loss of appetite and at a young age being moved around allot can cause quite a bit of stress.

Well hopefully if she was impacted we have cured the problem I may continue with the baths for a short time just to be on the safe side of things. Any suggestions on what else to try feeding her as I know she will not eat crickets or roaches. Still think it sucks I can't get any hoppers.

Butterworms, silkworms, phoenix fly larvae, mealworms(can be used as a staple), small superworms(also good staple) and probably a few others that i can't recall.

Righto thanks much fer the info I'm not totally convinced that it's parasites to be honest but I guess if push comes to shove I'll take her to a vet and go from there

Her eating calcium is fine, they do this in the wild by eating the substrate to get calcium.

Basically petco want me to take my lizard back to them and exchange it for another probably just as sick geko what a complete load of crap she's suffering enough no way are they pulling that crap with me. Oh and I'm now down to having to force feed my geko and that bites the big one.

I got my gecko from petco and hes perfectly fine. What people need to do is research a little bit so they'll be able to spot lizards who are sick already. If anything go get your money back if all the other lizards are infected.
