Ah my very first post.So here goes nothin'.Speaking recently with Aaron Bauer,I was able to get him to divulge info on an upcoming formal description of a new Eurydactylodes sp.He said it "should" be published in the upcoming month!Judging from past papers I assume it will appear in the journal Pacific Science(don't quote me on this for sure, he just publishes new species in this particular journal more than others)Getting additional info was a tad more frustrating, although with his hectic schedule I always understand(he's a great guy and one hell of a scientist, perhaps the world authority on all geckos,Oceanic region for sure)Anyhow we may be seeing a plethora of new Bavayia within the year.
Anyone who remembers the 2008 Project Gecko contest surely remembers the species Bavayia periclitata(the one named by the elementary school girl)This taxon and potentially ten more new Bavayias will appear in an upcoming monograph. At long last(and long, long, long wait)what has me most excited is the greatly anticipated Rhacodactylus revision.Whether or not we will see this anytime soon is still a great mystery.Last I spoke with Aaron on this matter was back in 2006.He really is a busy busy man,and this certainly is a daunting task.Has anyone heard any new updates in this area of taxonomic change?I hate to continually pester Aaron on this matter.
I must say other than the obvious(R.leachianus henkeli doesn't merit subspecific status,R.trachyrhynchus trachycephalus is indeed a full species)I'm rather curious to see R. chahoua...R. ciliatus,R. sarasinorum...R. auriculatus...all placed in their own novel genera.Even more exciting are the rumors of entirely new taxa within the complex.I'm silly with anticipation for these critters.Who cares if they're described molecularly as opposed to morphologically,a new species(especially any vertebrate)is always exciting, and a testament to Earth's incredible biodiversity!!!Don't mind my ramblings!!!

Just thought I would resurrect this thread to see if anyone has heard anything new about the Rhacodactylus revision. I last asked Aaron about it a year or two back, but I am in agreement with Casey - I don't want to pester him.

If anyone knows anything then please share the news with us!
