Hey!

New to this forum, and new to the nephururs sp. :)
My name is Viktor, I'm from Sweden and I got my first pair of Nephrurus levis yesterday! This is an adult pair, will take some pictures soon, didnt want to disturb them their first day.

Right now I'm housing them seperatly, in simple setups plastic boxes measuring about 45x30x30 cm (about 18x12x12 in) with about 15-20 cm deep layer of sand so that they can burrow, a couple of hiding places (corc bark) and a humid box w. vermeculite.

Under about 1/3-1/2 of the box i have a heatmat, giving me temps of 29.5-30*C at the top of the sand (if they want warmer they could dig down a bit). The cooler side is about 25-26*C.
What do you think about the temperatures?
Should I keep the heatmat running day and night, or should i turn it of during night letting temperatures drop (to about 23*C)?

Very thankful for all advice. Will post pictures as soon as possible!
Hope they will feed tonight.

Cheers!
Viktor

alright! the geckos seem to be adapting well, they're digging their burrows and i think they are thriving. will try to throw down a couple crickets tonight or tomorrow evening, wanted to give them some time to settle in first.

The pictures below:
1] setup for the female w. humid box for egglaying
2-3] pictures of the female who happened to be out chillin'
4] setup for the male, will get him a humid box too asap, just had one here at home and the female was prio #1
5] picture of one of the entrances to the males burrow. Nice work :)

Sorry about the poor picture quality, hadnt time to bring out the nice camera so i had to settle with the point-n-shot..

What do you think?

Cheers
/Viktor

Nice levis! My females wont use a nest box they just lay eggs in the sand on the cool side of the cage, so I just took the nest boxes out. Thanks for sharing the pics!

Yepp, no nesting boxes for the softskins, just complicates things. Make a little hill of humid (not wet) sand at the cool end and on the top a plasic hide.

The trick to the softskinns is to keep the humid hide at the right level of humidity for the spices. FX laevissimus should be dryer etc....
