Worried About My Tokay...

Zeus, my male(?) tokay has not been eating for at least 4months. He was a voracious feeder, but now doesn't eat anything. He still 'drinks' water when I mist his enclosure, but won't eat no matter what I try to feed him.
Also, at what point do males start calling? He has yet to make a sound of any kind. He will be 2 yrs old in what Cliff, three months???
I've kept him on the same day/night cycle to this point. Heat/cool cycle also....
I am puzzled. He still is keeping his weight, but I have noticed his tail is shrinking. I DON'T want to lose my animal!

I would take a fresh poop sample to your vet and have them do a fecal exam. At least then you will know if he has any parasites or not.

So are you 100% sure that he has not ate anything for 4 months, or have you just not seen him eat with your own eyes?

He looks the same. Looks healthy, eyes clear. I'll get some pics up this wknd.
His color is brilliant! He never gets dark. Well, I have to back-pedal on the eating. I did see him eat his shed maybe two months ago.....
Oh yeah, he's at least 14" now.
I been waiting for the infamous "TO-KAY" sound, but nothing....
Could it be time for a mate?
I mean, can't eat, can't sleep...
That could only mean one thing! Needs a woman! LOL!!!

I have had geckos go months where it seems like they never eat anything. They act healthy look healthy and then one day they will start eating again. It really does not seem like to much to worry about. Just offer him one or two large crickets every other day till his appetite comes back.

As big as he is I would say it is time for a mate. You could always try putting a mirror in his cage for a little while. He might see his self think it is another male (competition) and start calling for a female.

It will be a little complicated but any of my herps that mysterioulsy stop eating I start weighing them once a week. Eyeballing weight just isnt good enough for me and sometimes you wont notice until its much too late. Plus if hes rapidly dropping wieght youll have it documented and it will help the vet diagnose. Yes some herps will stop eating for a bit. But my experience with especially tokays Ive never seen them to stop eating for no reason and be okay. Exhaust your options first. Start with a stool sample to test for parasites. Its sounds like hes cb so this is unlikely BUT parasites can be tranfered though food, hands, anything that has touched one cage and gone to another. Also natureszone makes this really good appetite stimulate its just a large dose of b12 its called APPETTITE PLUS get the animal to open his mouth and just sqeeze a couple drops in his mouth. That could help. Hopefully this helps a bit.
