I am SUCH AN IDIOT! :(
SO I was trying to reposition the plastic over the four eggs in the Lyodactylus williamsi viv and unfortunately crushed two of the eggs. THey were good too, little red veins, you could almost see little embryos. I am such a dumb, stupid, & *enter your choice expletive here.* I am so mad and sad. That's a total of 3 eggs I've accidentally squished in the past month. :( WAAAAAAAAAA!
Only two eggs left, and they are in the same precarious spot as the other two-on the ledge just millimeters below the tank lid. How can I get my girls to lay elsewhere!?!?!?!?!

... maybe Vaseline an half inch around the edge of the tank to prevent them from laying them up so close to the edge? not sure if that would work. just the first idea that came to mind...

Could vaseline be poisonous? :(

Jen, I'm sorry to hear about your eggs. :( Mine are still in the 20 gallon long aquarium where she laid them .. but it's been almost 3 months for the first one, and no sign of it hatching. We're going on vacation tomorrow, so now, I'm actually hoping it's a bad egg and it WON'T hatch .. cuz if it does .... the person I'm having feed the animals won't be able to catch and take care of a new baby. :(

Again, sorry about your loss. :(

Vaseline is non-toxic.

I have recently tried something new that worked. My female laid eggs up at the top ledge, so I bought a couple sticks of bamboo about 1" thick and cut it into pieces about 2 to 3 inches long and then dropped a good handfull of these in one corner of the tank (a bit of a loose pile of them). She laid her next two eggs in the bamboo tubes, so they were handy for me to remove the tube and place in an incubator.

No guarantee this will continue, but I hope so. Also I am prepared for the possibility that she sticks them in between the pieces so as to stick two bamboo bits together, which will be delicate to remove without splitting open an egg I would imagine....

I will have to try the bamboo thing. My girls are gravid again and getting huge and I want so much to get some babies this year!
