Well unless your crestie is in a really cold room you don't need the heat lamp at all. They like room temps ... betweeen 18-25 deg. C. Anything over 30 deg. C. could be detrimental to their health.

Most of my cresties only get ambient room light ( NO DIRECT SUNLIGHT ) with a few that have plants in the enclosure getting fluorescent lighting. The ones with lighting have the lights on for about 12 hours during the day. If I want to view them I just turn a lamp on in the room to add a bit of light.

Good Luck with your crestie!!

thanks for the info! hes in my room in my house, so i dont think its too cold for him. i actually think it was too hot in there for him. i think i am going to do the uv ligh on during the day, and let him mess around during the night. he tends to hide, but im sure he needs some amt of uv light. i want him to be healthy.

btw i had to do an conversion on the temps you gave me. XD

No problem on the info. I don't think that there's any evidence showing that UV light is beneficial to cresties or most other nocturnal geckos but if definitely WON'T hurt him. ;-)

Something that worked well in the hot summer months for me before I got air conditioning was to put a frozen 2L bottle of water in the enclosure to keep the temps down. It's easy to fill a few bottles of water and freeze them and just swap them after they thaw. This way the gecko can choose which area has the proper temps for it but at least has a place to cool down.

Of course the frozen bottle isn't necessary if your temps are comfortable. You only need it if your temps are approaching or over around 88 deg. F. ( Conversion Completed. LOLOL )

BTW - If you're not familiar with the Fruit Smoothie for cresties check out this thread ... http://www.geckosunlimited.com/comm...ome-made-fruit-mix-frugivorus-gecko-diet.html.
