How do I sex Stenodactylus Petrii? Love the little one I have and trying to obtain a few more. I would LOVE to get them to breed, but also want to make sure multiple males dont end up fighting.

Are they like other geckos, where I am looking for bulge under tail? The little dude I have now has tiny white spikes on both sides of tail..are those indicators or just special scales?

Thanks in Advance,

Billie

do you have some pictures. you have to compare males with females.
females will look like a male but if you campare them with a female you will see that the male has much largel bulges.
The spikes on the side (brushes) are much biger with males than with females

males will not fight, you can keep 2 males in a larger group.
I have 2 males and 7 females in one group

Thanks.. I do believe the one I have dubbed Little man is female.. might have to change name.. so hope I can find a few more as they are the coolest little guys I have seen in years.

i have S. sthenodactylus and they seem to behave almost the same. My group is 2 boys to 4 girls with no problems! Side by side they are pretty easy to tell by the bulges once they reach maturity.

I breed Stenos! The hemipenes are going to be below the cloaca at the base of the tail. The little things you talked about are "spurs"! Thats a sure sign of a male! Size is also a good determining factor! Females are going to be larger and much fatter! The males are smaller and more slim! if you have any pics of the underside and can post them, i can ID them for you faster that way!
