New species of Eurydactylodes

I just found out about a recently described species of Eurydactylodes by Bauer and colleagues. E. occidentalis is known from only a few specimens from the west coast of the Province Sud on Grande Terre. It is very similar in biology and appearance to all other Eury's, albeit being slightly smaller. Eury's immediate sister group is Rhac. chahoua, which many people know already, and a formal revision on Rhacodactylus is on its way apparently. Will let you all know when i hear.

I told y'all it was forthcoming! So far I'm unable to locate a link to the article.I do however, have information on how to acquire a hard copy(an absolute must if your a technical nerd/collector of scientific journals like myself)! It's published by the Paris Museum of Natural History. The monograph is titled Memoires national d'Histoire naturelle:Zoologia Neocaledonica vol.6.It is available for purchase directly through the museum itself if you understand the French language,or a great book dealer with an equally great website in the UK called Natural History Book Service(NHBS) has it also for sale. It's rather pricey,as in over $100 US not including shipping, but it contains a plethora of other new species as well.I can't wait to get my copy, and I heartily recommend the previous volumes as well(vol.5 in particular). Now we just need that elusive Rhac revision everyone's buzzing about. Enjoy!!!

I think he had a couple more Eurydactylodes papers coming out as well. Is there anything interesting from Chris Raxworthy lately?

I can keep my eyes peeled for a link to the description, and if I find it, I will post that link. Thus far I believe the only way to get a hold of the description is to purchase the journal I mentioned above. It's full of other brand new New Caledonian endemics as well!I'm stoked to hear there may be even more yet-to-be described Eurydactylodes out there!I assume the new species will be "cryptic", "one species becomes five or more, based on detailed DNA analysis".
Aaron Bauer is the premier herp guy for the entire South Pacific region, so I'm certain any new species he describes will be valid and remain valid.Still waiting for his Rhacodactylus revision, and by the way I never thought to mention that he would more than likely send you a photocopy of the Eurydactylodes occidentalis description if you shot him an e-mail request for it.Best of luck to ya!!!

I might do just that. Last time I asked him for some of his publications he posted me a CD of them all, so he may well be happy to send me a copy of this one. thanks!

Let me know if you get anything back please Graham.

Of course, I'll keep you posted.
I've just sent the email, and he's been pretty fast getting back to me before, so should hear something soon.

I have an electronic copy of the paper, and will gladly send it to all interested parties. Sadly the file is too large to post on this forum.
