Hey, I'm thinking about getting a crested gecko soon. I was thinking of making my own cage for it for when it is an adult but I kinda got stuck with either screen mesh or glass.

My plan is to have two stackable cages each 60"x12"x12" (LxWxH) but one without a floor making the total size 60"x12"x60". The bottom would have 3 soild sides and the top would have 1 soild side (The back, oh and I'm not talking about bottoms or tops of the cages)

So my room is ussally around 23-26◦c, I'm guessing if I use cocofibre based substrate the humdity should hold up well with the screen but I'm not too sure, so what do you think ?

Thanks

[Ps. If your woundering why I want it to come apart into two parts, the reason is that he will have something to live in as a youngsta (juvenile)]

Good idea, just make sure the cage is secure. I once made a cage by taking a bigger, glass cage and putting mesh to make one smaller area for a juvie garg. Then one day he got under the mesh and escaped!:yikes: I found him almost dead 2 days latter of searching. Hes fully recovered and okay, but i dont want to repeat the same mistake...... Just be careful!

Thats not good but I'm glad that you found him and alive all the better ;-)

Mine should be pretty robust, I'm planning on bolting the mesh down and a good layer of silcone sealant between the mesh and the wood then a strip of wood screwed though everything.
