I know this qustion might look a bit silly but I'm gonna ask anyway - does anyone here keeps\breeds Shingleback skinks ?
You might find it funny, but there isn't even one of 'em in Israel and that includes the reptiles collections in zoos here.:blushing:

HI!
In collection of my Zoo there was a pair of those, but long time a go.
They were never bred and now lost (several years back).
These are unique lizards, one of the tops of legged squamata something alike corucia skinks.
They are not rare in nature and in some pleaces rather common in Aussieland but due to protection and status (CITES, local legislation) it doesn't exported for last years as far as i know.
Due to a hard breeding habbits (they like swans known not to form a pair for several seasons if one of the couple lost) and not every couple can produce, these are rarely bred in USA and Europe and if do, the price is very high.
Here is a picture of our last specimen. Copyright (c) Leningradsky Zoopark

спасибо Mikhail

Thank you for the info - I know too well about the Aussie gov policy concerning the export of Aussie wildlife as I volunteer for the last 8 years at the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo,3 of them at the Australian section.:)
I didn't know that they are so difficult to breed - tough luck for reptiles enthusiasts.
Talking about corucia skinks - we had a pair in the Aussie section that didn't breed for about 2 years and about a year ago one of them died.
I'm including a couple of photos taken a year ago of the remaining one,not very good ones - sorry.

What other Aussie reptiles the Leningradsky Zoopark has in it's collection?

I know this post is old, but i figured it wouldint hurt to chime in. I have a shingleback skink. Hes a great pet, a bit sleepy, but then again thats why they call them sleepy lizards eh? Most of the ones youll see are in pairs or they are lone males. Pretty pricey too.
