I went camping this weekend and happened upon a Psuedotriton ruben (Northern Red Salamander). I'll try posting photos when he comes out in his new home, didn't want to do it after he stressing him out.
Does anyone know if northern red salamanders stop eating for a while when the season changes to winter. Cuz i had mine and she was eating great but now that the season has started to change she hasnt eaten for 2 weeks
I imagine they have a hibernation period, but I'm not entirely positive. I've yet to see mine eat yet, but I know that it has. It finally came out last night and I was able to snap this shot before it scuttled back to the leaf litter.
Yea that looks pretty gravid to me. Does that filter you have work well. How often can you go without changing the water until it starts looking discolored
Always thought Ruben is the name of an painter, not any animal...
Anyway this female Pseudotriton ruber looks gravid to me too and keeping an adequate pool for her is really a wise case to help her give the birth.
