Male/Female Housing

I currently have a 4 year old female leo, and I am thinking of getting another leo soon, but this is my dilemma. Should I get another female or is it possible to get a male and have them together without breeding.

You cannot house a male with a female without them breeding. It will happen. And the male will pester her constantly. Either get another female or house them individually.

To add to what T-Rexx said, please be prepared to house the new gecko individually anyway. Not only do you need to quarantine for at least 30 days, but females sometimes will fight. Females can be quite territorial and not tolerate another gecko in their enclosure even after repeated attempts at introduction.

Also, please make sure that you do not attempt to keep the two together until they are both around the same size/weight and monitor them closely for bullying. Leopard geckos often (not always, but often) do better when housed by themselves.

So is it just better to house gecko's by them selves anyway, because I just always thought they needed like companions or they go a little insane or stressed.

No, reptiles are not like mammals and do not have a need for company. Reptiles lack the parts of the brain that make higher emotions such as loneliness and bonding possible.
