Breeding in Sterlite tubs

Hi everyone. I plan on breeding this season and I was wondering if I could breed leos in sterlite or rubbermaid containers with a UTH or heat tape? Like I want to keep the male in one and then transfer the female when there ready.

Thanks

You should be fine doing that. We keep all our geckos in tubs in a rack system. We introduce the male to the female in her tub, and once the deed is done we move him back to his tub. There are other breeders who do their breeding in colonies in tubs, and enjoy keeping them that way.

Heat tape running down the back of another platform thats faced vertical towards the tubs should be able to keep the heat in :) Drilling small holes in the high sides should be fine for air :D

Angelicka, when u say in colonies do you mean one male with X amount of females?... cause when i was talking to a breeder he said that he keeps one male with 9 females. and he also said you can keep them togeather all year around because they wont try to breed unless its breeding season. is this true? i'm just wondering and i bet it might help hyposhawn out to

Most UTHs will tell you to stick it to glass only, but what I did was use the little rubber raisers and put them on the paper side (the side you can rip off to reveal the sticky side). and then I just place it underneath.

OR
(By the way, heating pads are usually $25-$35 each so that may be expensive)

You can use a piece of plexiglass or glass and stick the heater onto that and put your Terrarium on the glass, locating the UTH where you want it.

ORRRRRR

You can buy heat tape or the heat-wire. Heating wire will allow you to move whatever you need, and put it wherever you want. Heat wire would be my reccommendation, but heat tape would also be a good choice.

numerous amounts of UTH can get pretty expensive :)
