Culturing Springtails

i just received my culture of springtails. I keep finding different instructions on how to establish them in my viv. There are plenty of live springtails already moving in the culture, should i just put the container in the viv and let them crawl out, dump all of the contents in the viv, please someone with experience help! I wish to have them completely colonized in the viv.

In my experience, springtails were never something that I particularly aimed for in my vivs, but they always ended up there.

No info came with the culture? What herps are in the viv? If your viv has live plants and leaf litter, maybe even some bark and whatnot across the floor...the springtails should thrive. Hopefully it's a cooler, somewhat moist habitat you've built, as I don't think they're the best for arid and/or hot habitats.

thank you so much for the reply, they came with instructions on how to further culture into a larger colony, but i only need a minimal amount to to sustain the eco system in a exo terra 24x18x24. It's also for a crested gecko so the 72-78 degree range should be fine according to the info i've found. I've had the viv running planted for a little over a month now and fungus is just starting to appear. The crestie wont actually be introduced for a few more months as he/she is sub 4 grams

If there is fungus and growing then you are all set. All you need to do is add water to you culture and poor the floating springtails in to the cage. They will do the rest.
