ok i have a normal fish tank light would it work if i painted the bulb red with car bulb paint as i hate it as at night i cant see then as i turn the light off and heard they cant see red lights

I know it's an old post, but if you still got the problem; you say a fish tank light? If it's from a fish tank then it's a UVB sort of strip which would help with vitamin d3 and what not, but that is only on for the day cycle, some people do a standard 12 a day, some do seasonal cycles. So you shouldn't have a problem with it at night, and I wouldn't paint it any color as it would filter more of the already filtered UVB ray.

Just get a red bulb. there is a pretty good chance the bulb will actually over heat and explode
