Just curious, for those of you that also use snails as feeders...is there any reason I can't just put a few of my adult snail right in the enclosure with the geckos? The adult snails are way to big for the geckos to eat. And the snails won't eat the geckos. So, why not just put them in together and when the snail babies hatch out, the geckos can eat them as wanted. Anyone see a problem with this idea? Of course, this is all assuming similar temp/humidity requirements, etc.

Hello Ethan,

I don't see a problem for the geckos I had an adult Achatina with my Henkelis for a long time - once I saw her "walking" over one of the sleeping geckos but it did not seem to disturb him altough I think this should not happen too often :?

But as "scrletbegonias" maybe they will eat your plants and also I did not have good success in breeding them myself but if conditions are perfect for the snails maybe they will reproduce.
Another thought would be that maybe snails could loose their attraction if they are around all th time. But I don't know if this can happen because with my Masobe they seem to know when they need them.

Siri

Thanks guys (and ladies). I hadn't really though of the slime factor and that's kind of a deal breaker for me. I don't mind washing down the snails tubs as they're just in rubbermaids. But I don't want to have to be cleaning slime off the Zoomeds all the time. Cleaning the poop off the glass is enough for me! The snails seem to be breeding pretty well and I was just thinking that it might be kind of nice to have a few cruising around in the enclosures to give it a more "live" feeling. Kind of like a multi species viv. Oh well, no big deal. Was just a thought. Thanks again for the input.
