I didnt know where to post this , Food or leo section... I choosed Leo since theres more people here.
Yesterday i received all the things i bought from the internet. when i ordered, I ordered alot of crickets and i decided to try mealworms ( Bought 100 ).
How do i feed him thoses ??? I tried hand feeding them , She just doesnt care at all. She just turn her head. I putted one on the floor on a rock tile , The mealworm was moving alot and my leo seemed interested in it. But she just went really close to him, Smelled it and turned away. Then i putted 3 mealworms in a dish before going to sleep but this morning they are all there. They dont seem to move at all in the dish.
I tried again this morning to hand feed one and to put one on the floor but with the same results than yesterday.
So i offered her some crickets like i usually do and she just eat well. She will hunt them and stike them as soon as they see them.
I usualy feed her 2-4 crickets at a time , 2 times a day ( around 9 Am and 9pm)
Is it possible that she just dont like Mealworms ??? Is it hard to feed thoses to a leo ? And how do you give them ( in a dish , Hand , floor ) ?

Thanks

She may not eat them at all, so Leo's will not eat mealies or supers. Of the 2 rescues I have one will not(at all, in any way shape or form) eat mealies or supers and the other will not eat butters.

That is one way that our Leos are just like us...they need a varied diet but some things they just will not eat. Keep trying she may decide to eat them, she may not. If you really want her to eat them, then do not feed her for 4 or 5 days she will be very hungry and may take them then, but no guarantees.

Also don't forget to give them some cricket gut load cubes in the container you are keeping them in so they stay hydrated and healthy, I know that the one here who likes them will not eat them when they have not been gut loaded...it is like she can tell when they are getting dehydrated and near death. She really does love 'em plump juicy and fat!

my cricket gutload i bought is a dry gutload... I putted potato slices in the container and they ate some, Should i give them cricket water ( the blue jelly stuff ) ?

Maybe that would work...are they still burried in the bran they came in. If so it may soak up all the moisture from the cricket water jelly stuff. I am not sure I have never used it.

Yeah they are all under the stuff they came in. I think the potato does he job well and you are probably right , The bran would probably soak all the moisture .

Collard greens, carrot, sweet potato, mustard greens, etc. chopped up very finely (think of the slap chop and google it). For a fun video look up the slap chop rap on youtube, its silly but fun.

I use a device similar to the slap chop but its an off brand I found at Wal*Mart:roll:.

Haha, I also have something similar. Exactly the same in fact
, Just no the Slap chop brand. Ill give them some veggies tommorow.
I just tried to hand feed my leo a mealworm again, She really looks interested in it, I know it because her " Face expression " change. You know when they do are interested in eating something :p But she carefully went closer, slowly Opened her mouth and when she touched it she turned away :scratchhead:
Its like she doesnt like the texture at all. It is more rigid and "Waxed" than the crickets. Anyway she still love the crickets so nothing to worry about

Yesterday before going to sleep , i tricked her :) I hand feeded her a cricket she striked it and ate it. Then i hand feeded her 1 small cricket and a small mealworm at the same time, she ate them. Then i offered her only a mealworm. She went close smelled it and turned away . LOL. I just dusted the mealworm with a mix of calcium and vitamins and when i offered it to her , She went slowly closer , Slowly opener her mouth and slowly took it off my fingers to eat it :) I was surprised on how she was gentle and slow moving.
