The ecdysis is the biological mechanism which reptiles change their skin, getting replace the old skin cells for a new skin cells...
So, It is a process that normally, in captivity, we don´t usually see, because the animals hide or take advantage of the night (when humidity levels rise up) to do the shed.
Here I share a nice picture of one shedding moment of a female chahoua, so, you can see clearly the difference between dead skin and the new one.
