Night light.

Hello, Ive been researching on whether or not to add a blue LED light to my vivarium and found this on reptilechannel.com:

Some nocturnal geckos lack the red-sensitive cone, but their green-sensitive cone also responds to red light; they can certainly see it. Studies have even shown that some use their cone types for color vision in light similar to dim moonlight. Thus it is possible that “moonlight blue” or “red night light” lamps, which usually are much brighter than moonlight, alter these animals’ view of the twilight world.

Im not really sure if ill add one in my sikorae tanks after reading this. Maybe something small. Hope this helps someone else.

re

I think the blue alters certain activities- like my Henkeli would not breed with it on but there general activity seems perfectly normal otherwise with the blue which is nice if you wanna watch them-

Thanks, thats good to know. The lights are good for misting. I like to spray them directly so they can lick off the water. Its almost impossible to find them without it. Im using a small blue led flashlight for now. Ive used a lighter outside the aquarium and they respond to it. They dont seem to respond to the blue led light.
