setup for P. Rangei?

Hey, everyone.

I'm just wondering what I should do for the setup of a Rangei enclosure.
I already have a tank, I just am not sure what to put in it. Ideas?:scratchhead:

Thanks!

That's easy:

-10-15cm of high quality sand (e.g. Lucky Reptile or Jurassic)
-under tank heat at around 30°C
-slightly misting every day

That's it :)

I'd put in some cacti/succulents, but you have to be careful that they don't have thorns, or irritating hairs. I'd use a heat lamp if it were me, but I've never kept the species.
10-15 cm of nice fine red sand, make sure it isn't dyed.

No, plants, cacti or any other decoration will be buried within hours, so that would make no sense at all.
As P. rangei lives in deep burrows where the temperatures constantly are around 28-30 °C a heat lamp is not the best idea.

I was under the impression that they burrow to escape most of the heat during the day. Doesn't make sense to me why you would want the heat coming from the bottom.

Yes of course they do that.
In the night the temps go down to around 30 °F.
As I already said, the temperature in the burrows is always constant at low to mid 80s.
So during the day (when it's very hot and at night when it's very cold, the temp is on average always the same in the burrows.
Those animals are very specialized to that area.
