Whats best as a food source

Just hatched out 1 little Wheeleri... He is presently being maintained in a small container on towel paper... Perfect in every way.... What is the best food suggestion for these little guys as I am expecting 5 more brothers and sisters... I have baby crickets, baby roaches, and Hydei flies available...

Whatever information can be provided would be appreciated.. No need to stress these guys out with an assortment of foods.. Which is the most likely to be eaten.... Thanks, and photos to come later... JERRY

I raise mine pretty much on 1/4 crickets, I have also seen them eat dubia and lateralis, but crickets seem to be most ideal, as the lateralis can be too fast and the dubia burrow in the sand.

I think fruit flies would be too small for them.

1/4 inch is what I currently have. Thanks and my inventory has doubled as another one was just born an hour ago.. I still have 4 eggs cooking...Photos to follow.... JERRY

Hey Mr. Tresser,

Congrats! Glad to see your working with N. wheeleri! From being a baby don't feed them right away...let them go about 3-4 days from hatching then attempt to feed it one small cricket dust in calcium. Make sure to every feeding to dust it with calcium. Only feed them one cricket at a time to not stress him/her out.

You can also vary the prey by feeding them roaches, mealworms, buffalo worms, large firebrats, wax worms and crickets of course. Wax worms are great for fattening their tails up too ;-)
