New Gecko Concern

I just got a new gecko Friday night and he/she is very jumpy. Every time I walk into the room he jumps around and runs into his hide. I'm really hoping that it is because he is still getting used to his new home. I really want to get him used to being around me and being held. My other gecko was not this jumpy when he was a baby, he just let me hold him from the very beginning.
Any thoughts from anyone? Do you think he's just nervous and he will get used to me?

Leopard geckos are fairly jumpy when they come into a new environment. Consuelo did it when we first got him and every time we've moved since. It may take a week or so, but he should be fine.

Thanks. I have started putting my hand in the tank and letting him crawl over it; he is doing it more often now. I guess I'm just nervous because Stitch was so calm from the moment I got him. Maybe he is just a really go with the flow gecko.

Mango, one of my adult females, is still jumpy. I've had her for about 2 years now...and she only jumps and runs when I try to pick her up. My boyfriend and mom have no problem holding her :[
I recently bought a young tangerine baby; he is fine and lets me pick him up and hold him. Same with my new albino baby, who is even younger than the tangerine.

I guess it just depends on the gecko. Babies are defiantly going to be more skid-ish than adults...when they get used to you and fatter, they become lazier. :) Good luck with your lil baby
